The Snowdrop Audax

Yet Again…

Organised by Beacon RCC ‘The Snowdrop’ (and its companion route ‘The Sunrise’) are an institution on the Audax UK calendar, usually attracting 260 entries each year. These early season audax events are designed to brush away the cobwebs by taking riders along two 123km circuits around Worcestershire through Hartlebury, Evesham, Upton & back to Hartlebury. The Sunrise starts earlier than The Snowdrop using the same course but in opposite directions.

This year’s event was part of the Audax UK 50th anniversary initiative, 50:50@50, whereby designated events are promoted to try to get an entry list that’s at least 50% female. While equal gender participation is the goal, they are open to everyone regardless of gender.

Stourbug Members have been regular riders on the event, which being so early in the year can be chilly, but the organiser has a gritted alternative if needed.

Held on the 28th of February (in 2026) 18 Stourbug members, including 4 females, enjoyed the ride with some riding to and from Stourbridge to the start.

After finishing one rider said:

“This was the third time I have completed this ride, and it never fails to impress. Well organised with a really nice route; great scenery and not too many potholes! It’s well worth having a go at and you can ride the pace that suits you”

We’re already looking forward to next year’s event – entries will open later in the year but places fill up quickly so we’ll be sure to keep an eye on the website at Audax UK
